There's just something very spellbinding here; maybe it's the naturally charming model with healthy physique and relaxed expression (her soulful gaze contributes a great deal here) or unique layout of elements beside her (the thick curtains and that unique oil painting). Anyway it really grabs attention and doesn't let go.
In addition there's a unique sensibility at play which gives gravitas to even the most simple and unites them together. It's hard at first to get how the deliberately placed artwork and stage setting is pivotal in blurring the shot's reality & dimention but it is definitely there subtly. I also like how the painting is based off a Japanese cityscape yet far from the stereotype of high-tech skyscrapers and busy neon signs. The earthen colours both art and overall shot help give it a eraless, antique yet hauntingly modern charm here, very imaginative while keeping it down to earth. The minimal natural lighting makes this all feel real.
This shot not only captures warmness but a positive, alternate view on what is synonymous with futurist bustle and stress. Awesomely modelled shot and painting! (Dunno who drew the art but if it's you(?) or the model(?), major props there! )
